Skoda Kodiaq Rear Ventilation Flap Issue

I am experiencing a problem with my Skoda Kodiaq, build year 2018, diesel engine, mileage 171397 km. There is an error stored in the error memory related to the rear ventilation flap. The climate control unit seems to be malfunctioning, and the air conditioning is no longer cooling. According to my research, a likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered this issue before? I would appreciate any insights.

Summary of the thread

The Skoda Kodiaq is experiencing a rear ventilation flap issue, leading to malfunctioning climate control and ineffective air conditioning. The problem is likely caused by a defective cable or plug connection. After checking fuses and considering air circulation behavior, it was suggested to conduct system diagnostics at a workshop. The diagnostics confirmed a defective plug connection, which was repaired for 95€, resolving the air conditioning issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Rear ventilation flap issues on the Kodiaq, huh? Sounds like a familiar problem. A friend of mine had something similar happen with his Tiguan – same platform, you know. His air conditioning was blowing warm air too. Before you go too far, have you checked all the basic stuff like fuses related to the car HVAC? Also, is the air circulation behaving strangely? Does it seem like it's stuck on recirculate, or is fresh air coming in when it should be?

Thanks for the quick reply. I did check the fuses; they seem fine. When you say 'air circulation behaving strangely,' what exactly should I be looking for? I wasn't paying too much attention to it before everything went wrong.

Okay, if the fuses are good, and you're getting an error code for the rear vent flap, and the air conditioning isn't cooling, it's pointing more and more towards that defective connection as the culprit. Air circulation issues would manifest as the system struggling to pull in fresh air from outside, or getting stuck on recirculate (indicated by fogging windows). Honestly, it sounds like you've done your due diligence. While you could try tracing the wiring yourself, given the automatic climate complexity and potential for further damage, I'd cautiously suggest taking it to a workshop for system diagnostics. 95€ sounds about right for tracing a short and replacing a connector, but don't be shocked if they find more corrosion when they get in there.

I took it to a workshop, and after system diagnostics, they found a defective plug connection at the rear ventilation flap. The repair including parts and labor came to 95€. The air conditioning is working perfectly again.
