Skoda Kodiaq transmission and display issues
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Skoda Kodiaq with a diesel engine is experiencing issues with the gear selection display and transmission, including implausible shifting, slipping, and grinding noises. The error memory indicates a fault related to the gear shift indicator, suggesting a defective control unit affecting the automotive electronics system. The problem was resolved by replacing and recoding the faulty control unit at a specialized workshop.

Interesting. When you say 'similar', how similar are we talking? Did you also experience the shifting issues and grinding noises, or was it purely a digital display problem? And what was the fix for your Octavia?

Okay, mine wasn't as severe as yours. No grinding or slipping. Just the display going bonkers. The workshop suspected a sensor issue within the instrument panel itself. Considering you have shifting problems as well, I'd bet your 'affected control unit defective' theory is spot on. Sounds like a trip to a decent workshop is in order.

Thanks for the confirmation. I took it to a workshop specializing in automotive electronics. Turns out the control unit was indeed faulty. They replaced it, recoded everything, and it's running smoothly now. Cost me around 1000€. Appreciate the help!

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had something similar happen in my Skoda Octavia. The gear selection display went haywire. It wasn't exactly the same symptoms, but the instrument panel was definitely involved. I'm no expert, but it could be a sensor problem?
