Thank you for the information. When you experienced this issue with your Octavia, did the malfunction affect the speedometer reading on the dashboard at all? Also, were there any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) related to the speed signal specifically? If so, could you share the specific codes?

Yes, the speedometer was definitely affected, it would drop to zero intermittently. I don't recall the exact codes, but they pointed towards an ABS module issue and a speed sensor input problem. Given the symptoms and the potential cost you mentioned, it is best to take it to a workshop with the appropriate diagnostic tools. They can pinpoint the exact problem and confirm if the control unit is indeed the culprit.

I appreciate the confirmation and your insights. Following your advice, I took it to a trusted mechanic. The diagnosis confirmed a faulty ABS control unit, which was indeed the source of the speed signal malfunction. The repair cost me approximately 1000€. Everything is working as expected now. Thank you again for your help.

I had similar issues with my Octavia. The ABS light would come on intermittently, and sometimes I'd feel the traction control kicking in for no reason. It sounds like you are experiencing the same symptoms. When the ABS lamp lights up and you have traction problems, the speedometer might be affected because it relies on the speed input from the ABS sensors. Have you checked the ABS sensors themselves? Sometimes it's just a faulty sensor or a wiring issue. Also, does your odometer still work correctly?
