Skoda Octavia climate control problem

I'm having some trouble with the climate control in my 2012 Skoda Octavia diesel. It has 175436 km on the clock. The automatic temperature control no longer works, and the air conditioning system refuses to switch on. There's an error stored in the error memory that points to a faulty interior temperature sensor. I suspect it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

The climate control in a 2012 Skoda Octavia was malfunctioning, with the automatic temperature control not working and the air conditioning system failing to switch on. An error code indicated a faulty interior temperature sensor, suspected to be due to a defective cable or plug connection. The issue was resolved by replacing the faulty sensor and repairing the defective connections, restoring the climate control functionality.

I experienced something similar with my BMW 3 Series a few years back. The climate control went haywire. Have you already performed sensor diagnostics to verify the HVAC sensor's functionality? A faulty temperature control unit can manifest in strange ways. The error code is definitely a clue.

When you mention sensor diagnostics, what exactly did you do to troubleshoot? I've checked the error memory and the code definitely points to the interior temperature sensor, but I'm not sure how to proceed with testing the HVAC sensor itself.

In my case, the BMW also indicated a faulty sensor. I initially tried cleaning the contacts, but the issue persisted. Given the error code and your symptoms, it's highly likely the sensor or its wiring is the culprit. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop. They have the proper tools for sensor replacement and can thoroughly inspect the wiring.

Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Diagnostics confirmed the interior temperature sensor was faulty. Cable and plug connection were indeed defective. Sensor replacement plus labor came to 95€. Climate control is now working as expected. Thanks for the help!
