Skoda Octavia Cruise Control Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Skoda Octavia diesel experienced cruise control failure, displaying an error message on the speedometer. Diagnostics indicated a potential cable or plug connection issue. It was suggested to check the wiring, particularly around the steering wheel controls, as these are common failure points. The problem was confirmed to be a faulty connection in the steering wheel, which was resolved by a workshop, restoring the cruise control functionality.

Yes, there's an error stored. The diagnostics pointed to a possible cable or plug issue with one of the cruise control components. Is there a common point of failure I should be looking at specifically?

If the diagnostics already point to a cable or plug connection, especially related to the steering wheel controls, that's the most likely culprit. Trying to troubleshoot those connections without proper tools or experience can be risky, due to the airbag system. Probably best to visit a workshop, before you are facing an even more defective car.

You were spot on. The workshop confirmed a faulty connection in the steering wheel. 95€ later and cruise control is working again. Thanks for the help.

Cruise control malfunction on an Octavia often comes down to wiring issues. Have you had the car scanned for error codes? A faulty brake light switch can also disable the cruise control system, so that's another area to check.
