Skoda Octavia Diesel Cold Start Problem

I am experiencing a peculiar issue with my 2011 Skoda Octavia diesel. The engine runs poorly during the cold start phase. Additionally, the error memory stores an error, and fuel consumption has increased. I suspect a defective electric auxiliary heater. Can anyone offer insight related to the heating element?

I had a similar issue with my Octavia. Check the electric auxiliary heater. When it fails, it causes poor cold starts and higher fuel consumption. The error memory will show an electrical fault.

Interesting, thank you. Could you please elaborate on the 'electrical fault' aspect? Did your blower motor work intermittently, or was the whole HVAC system affected?

Yes, the heating system and blower motor were working fine. The issue was solely with the heating element of the PTC heater. It is a common problem. I suggest having it checked at a workshop.

Thank you for confirming. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed the electric auxiliary heater. The cost was around 350€. The engine now runs smoothly from the start.
