Skoda Octavia Diesel Cold Start Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Skoda Octavia diesel is experiencing poor engine performance during cold starts, an error in the memory, and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause is a defective electric auxiliary heater. A similar issue was resolved by checking the electric auxiliary heater, which, when faulty, can lead to these problems. After confirming the issue and replacing the heater, the engine performance improved.

Interesting, thank you. Could you please elaborate on the 'electrical fault' aspect? Did your blower motor work intermittently, or was the whole HVAC system affected?

Yes, the heating system and blower motor were working fine. The issue was solely with the heating element of the PTC heater. It is a common problem. I suggest having it checked at a workshop.

Thank you for confirming. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed the electric auxiliary heater. The cost was around 350€. The engine now runs smoothly from the start.

I had a similar issue with my Octavia. Check the electric auxiliary heater. When it fails, it causes poor cold starts and higher fuel consumption. The error memory will show an electrical fault.
