Skoda Octavia Diesel Engine Jerking and Stalling

I am experiencing some difficulties with my 2020 Skoda Octavia diesel, with approximately 74923 km on the odometer, and I am seeking some guidance. I have noticed the engine jerking when accelerating, and the check engine light has illuminated. Upon scanning for error codes, a fault related to the intake manifold was indicated. Furthermore, I have observed reduced engine power, occasional engine stalls at idle, rough engine running, and a strong exhaust smell. I suspect the intake manifold may be leaking due to scorching. I am wondering if anyone has encountered similar issues and could offer some insights. I am particularly interested in understanding if a faulty manifold sensor could be the culprit or if the issue is indeed the intake manifold itself. Could a car manifold issue like this cause these symptoms?

I have a Skoda Octavia as well, although I am not sure about the year. I experienced similar symptoms not too long ago. The jerking during acceleration, along with the check engine light, is what I remember most vividly. Did you check the manifold pressure sensor? A faulty sensor can sometimes cause similar issues, but the rough running and stalling at idle does sound like a car manifold problem. Have you checked for any obvious leaks around the intake manifold itself?

Thank you for your reply! I did check the manifold sensor, and it seemed to be functioning within normal parameters according to the diagnostic tool. However, I am not entirely sure about checking for leaks around the intake manifold. Could you perhaps elaborate on how you identified the leak in your case? Also, did you notice any specific exhaust smell?

Given that you have already checked the manifold sensor, and the symptoms persist, it is highly probable that the intake manifold itself is the issue. In my case, the mechanic identified a clear crack in the manifold. The exhaust smell is another strong indicator. It is difficult to pinpoint the exact cause without a thorough inspection. Considering the stored error and the severity of the symptoms, I would strongly advise taking it to a reputable workshop for a professional diagnosis and repair. Continuing to drive it in this condition could potentially lead to further engine damage.

Thank you for your insights. It does seem very similar to what you experienced. I took it to a local workshop, and after diagnosis, it was confirmed to be a defective intake manifold due to scorching. The repair cost came to around 1180€. Now it runs smoothly again. I appreciate your help!
