Skoda Octavia Diesel Engine Performance Problems

I'm losing it with my 2018 Skoda Octavia diesel. The engine is running terribly, and the diagnostics say the engine control unit is bad. It's got that reduced engine power issue, and there's an error stored. I've been reading that a bad main relay could be the reason. Has anyone run into this before?

That sounds rough. I had ECU trouble with my old Renault Megane once. Reduced engine power is never a good sign. Have you tried just resetting the system to see if that clears the error for a bit?

Thanks for getting back to me so fast. When you say system reset, what did you actually do? Just unhook the battery, or did you do something with the computer?

I unhooked the battery for maybe half an hour hoping it would work, but the problem came back after driving a short distance. It might help for a little bit, but if the main relay is actually bad, you probably need to fix or replace the ECU. I'd get it checked out at a workshop.

You were spot on. The workshop confirmed it was the main relay messing with the ECU. They swapped it out, cleared the error codes, and the engine is running like new. The whole thing cost me 120€, so thanks for the help.
