How did you figure out it was the hoses? Did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you take it to a workshop?

Yeah, it's a common issue. I tried cleaning the hoses myself, but it didn't really solve the problem long term. The problem is that some dirt remains inside the hoses, and you can't remove it completely. Eventually, I had to take it to a workshop. They replaced the hoses and the purge valve, and that sorted it out. It's all tied into the emission system, so you don't want to mess around with it too much.

Cheers for the help. Turns out you were right about the hoses being clogged. Got it sorted at a local workshop, cost me 175€ in the end. Running smooth now, no more check engine light!

Sounds like you might be having trouble with your EVAP system. I had a similar issue with my Octavia. Check engine light kept coming on, and the engine would stall at idle sometimes. It's likely the purge valve or the hoses connected to it. They can get clogged up with dirt and grime over time, especially considering the mileage. That's what happened to mine, anyway. The EVAP system is responsible for managing fuel vapor emissions, and a malfunctioning purge valve can cause all sorts of problems.
