Skoda Octavia Diesel Engine Trouble
Summary of the thread
The 2001 Skoda Octavia diesel is experiencing rough running and a check engine light, with an OBD2 error indicating 'reset quantity drift compensation.' This suggests a potential issue with the injection valve or injector, which could also affect fuel economy. After considering possible causes, such as faulty airflow sensors, the problem was resolved by replacing a defective injector and performing necessary adjustments at a workshop, resulting in the car running smoothly again.

Airflow sensors? Where are they located, and how would I check them? Could that trigger the reset quantity drift compensation error? I thought that was specific to the fuel injectors?

It could be the injectors. The error code does sound specific. If you're not comfortable working on the fuel injection system, I'd suggest a trusted mechanic. They can diagnose it and do the compensation adjustment after replacing the injector.

Closing this out. I took it to a workshop based on the advice here. It was a defective injector. They replaced it, did the reset quantity drift compensation, and ran some diagnostics. It set me back 515€, but the car runs perfectly now. Thanks for the assistance!

Rough running and a check engine light? I had similar problems with my Renault Megane. It ended up being faulty airflow sensors messing with the fuel injection. Have you looked at those?
