Did your error code specifically mention the camshaft sensor? I've checked the error memory, and it points to a defective camshaft sensor. I'm just wondering if you had the same error and if replacing the sensor solved the problem completely.

Yes, the error code pointed to the camshaft sensor. I didn't mess with it myself. I took it straight to the workshop. They confirmed it was the sensor, replaced it, and the engine ran perfectly afterwards. Replacing the sensor fixed all the timing issues and engine misfire symptoms.

You were spot on. The cable and plug connection looked fine, but the workshop confirmed the sensor was faulty. They replaced it for 95€. Runs like a charm again. Thanks for your help.

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Octavia: rough starts, felt like I was towing a boat, and the check engine light was always on, around the same mileage too. Have you scanned for error codes? Mine pointed to something crankshaft or timing related. Could be the automotive sensor acting up.
