Skoda Octavia Engine Stalling at Idle

I'm at my wit's end with my 2006 Skoda Octavia (gasoline engine)! The check engine light is constantly on, and the engine keeps stalling at idle. The error memory shows a fault with the fuel level sensor. Could it really be just a defective fuse? I suspect it may be more complicated, given the symptoms.

I had a similar issue with my Octavia. The engine stalling at idle and the check engine light were the giveaways. Check the fuel sensor, especially the wiring. The fuel system can be sensitive to voltage fluctuations, and a faulty sensor can definitely throw things off. Do you know what error code was stored?

Wiring to the fuel sensor, you say? I assumed the fuel sensor itself was kaput, or maybe even the fuel pump going bad. By 'fuel sensor', do you mean the level sensor inside the fuel tank? The error code, if I remember correctly, mentioned something about an 'open circuit'.

Yes, I meant the level sensor inside the fuel tank. An open circuit error code combined with your symptoms strongly suggests a problem in that area. While it could be the sensor itself, or even the fuel pump relay, I'd still advise checking the fuses first. If the fuse is fine and the wiring looks good, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the fuel system and pinpoint the exact cause.

It was just a faulty fuse in the fuel system. I replaced it; the total cost was 52€ for the fuse and some peace of mind. Thanks for your help!
