Skoda Octavia exhaust back pressure sensor issue

I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with my 2013 Skoda Octavia gasoline engine. A warning light has appeared and I'm noticing smoke when accelerating. A diagnostic indicated a malfunction in the exhaust back pressure sensor, and the DPF isn't regenerating. Could the defective exhaust sensor be the cause? I suspect this because of the loss of engine performance.

I had a similar issue with my Skoda Octavia. The symptoms sound very familiar. Have you checked the wiring to the exhaust pressure sensor? Sometimes it can be a simple connection problem. Also, what is the exact error code from the diagnostics?

Thanks for the quick response. I did a quick visual inspection of the wiring, and it looked okay, but I didn't check it thoroughly. I don't have the exact error code at hand right now. Where is the exhaust pressure sensor located? I want to inspect the wiring more closely.

Okay, it does seem like the pressure sensor is the most probable cause. I'd suggest having a mechanic take a look. It's likely the sensor needs replacing. I remember the car maintenance cost me around that price too. This back pressure issue is tricky because it impacts engine performance and can damage other parts.

Just picked up my Octavia from the shop. It was the exhaust back pressure sensor for sure. The mechanic replaced it, and the warning light is gone. No more smoke, and he confirmed the DPF regeneration is working as it should. Total cost was 245€, thanks for the assistance, I appreciate it.
