Skoda Octavia Fuel Flap Issue

My Skoda Octavia built in is giving me grief The fuel flap release stopped working The error memory has a fault stored and it's impossible to lock or unlock the fuel filler flap Sometimes other car functions are also unavailable because of this failure The car has some kilometers on the clock I suspect a defective linkage but I'm not entirely sure where to start looking Any ideas

Summary of the thread

The Skoda Octavia had a fuel flap release issue, with a stored error code and inability to lock or unlock the flap, affecting other car functions. The problem was suspected to be a defective linkage or an electrical fault, possibly involving the door lock actuator interfering with the CAN bus system. After checking fuses and considering the central locking system, it was determined that the fuel flap lock actuator or its wiring was likely at fault. The issue was resolved by replacing the lock actuator, restoring the fuel flap's functionality.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like an electrical fault Is the central locking working correctly The fuel flap release circuit is usually tied into that Sometimes a faulty door lock actuator can cause weird issues on the CAN bus Have you checked the fuse for the central locking system or fuel filler flap It might be a simple fix though a blown fuse suggests a bigger underlying problem

Central locking seems to be working perfectly fine I checked the relevant fuses according to the manual they appear to be intact You mentioned the door lock actuator potentially interfering could you elaborate on that How would that specifically affect the fuel flap

Okay if the fuses are good and the central locking is behaving it's less likely to be a simple fuse issue The door lock actuator CAN interfere because it shares the same electrical system A short or malfunction in the actuator can send spurious signals through the CAN bus confusing the fuel flap module However since you've got a stored error code and complete failure it points more directly to the fuel flap lock actuator itself or the wiring leading to it Given the symptoms it's probably beyond basic DIY I would recommend taking it to a workshop

Problem resolved It was the lock actuator After replacement the fuel flap now opens flawlessly The total cost was 210€ Thanks for the advice
