Skoda Octavia gearbox issues
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Skoda Octavia diesel is experiencing gearbox issues, including non-functional paddle shifters, slipping, grinding noises, and entering emergency mode. The problem is suspected to be the transmission control module, as indicated by the 'check engine' light and stored error codes. The solution involved replacing the control module, which resolved the shifting issues.

Yeah, the 'check engine' light is on. Error is stored in the error memory. You think it's definitely the transmission control unit, then?

Sounds very similar to what I experienced. The error code pointed to a defective control unit. Best get it checked by a workshop that specializes in transmission repair and automotive ECUs.

Thanks for the input. Just got the car back from the shop. Turns out it was indeed the control module for the gearbox. A hefty 1000€ later, it's shifting smoothly again!

I had similar gearbox issues with my Octavia. Unclean shifting, almost like slipping gears. Is your 'check engine' light on? It could be the automotive ECU throwing a code.
