Skoda Octavia Hybrid fuel consumption and power loss

Alright, so I've got a bit of a headache with my 2020 Skoda Octavia hybrid. Lately, I've noticed the fuel consumption is way up, and the engine feels like it's lost some power. It even stalled on me the other day while idling. Plus, there's some smoke coming out when I put my foot down. Read online it could be something to do with the injection system, maybe a dodgy cable or plug. Anyone had similar issues or know what to look for? I'm trying to avoid a costly maintenance bill if it's something simple.

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Skoda Octavia hybrid is experiencing increased fuel consumption, power loss, stalling, and smoke emissions. These issues are suspected to be caused by a faulty cable or plug connection within the injection system. It is advised to have a qualified technician perform a diagnostic assessment to confirm the fault and carry out necessary repairs, which could prevent more significant engine damage. After inspection, the problem was confirmed to be a faulty plug connection, and the issue was resolved with a repair costing 95€.

Concerning the issues you've described with your Skoda Octavia, specifically the increased fuel consumption, reduced engine power, stalling, and smoke, a defective cable or plug connection within the injection system is a plausible hypothesis. However, a comprehensive diagnostic assessment should be performed to ascertain the precise nature of the fault. Could you provide more granular data pertaining to the conditions under which these symptoms manifest? For example, does the stalling occur exclusively when the engine is cold or warm? Are there any discernible patterns in the occurrence of smoke emissions, such as during initial acceleration or sustained high-speed operation?

Thanks, that's helpful. The stalling seems to happen mostly when the engine is warm, like after driving for a while and then stopping at a light. The smoke is definitely worse when I accelerate hard, especially going uphill. Does that give you any more ideas?

Based on the additional information provided, the symptoms do indeed suggest a potential malfunction within the injection system, with the cable or plug connection being a probable cause. Given the mileage and the nature of the symptoms, it would be prudent to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified technician. It is possible that the issue is relatively minor and easily rectified, as you initially suspected. However, neglecting to address the problem could lead to more significant and costly engine damage in the long term. I recommend scheduling a diagnostic appointment at a reputable automotive service center. A thorough examination will confirm the source of the issue and allow for the appropriate repairs to be carried out.

Just wanted to say thanks for the input. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turned out to be a faulty plug connection in the injection system, like you said. 95€ later, and it's running like new again.
