Skoda Octavia Hybrid Fuel Consumption Problem

I'm at my wit's end with my Skoda Octavia Hybrid from 2021! Recently, the fuel consumption has gone through the roof, and the check engine light is constantly on. To top it off, there's a loud hissing sound when I accelerate. I suspect an air intake leak, could it be the air filter or something to do with engine misfire?

Hissing on acceleration and high fuel consumption sounds like a vacuum leak. I had similar symptoms on my Octavia, check the vacuum hose near the throttle body.

Where exactly is the vacuum hose you're referring to? Is it easy to spot? And would that also cause the check engine light to illuminate?

Yes, that hose. It's a small diameter vacuum hose connected to the intake manifold, often gets brittle. A leak there can cause engine misfires and trigger the check engine light. I'd suggest getting it properly smoke tested at a workshop.

Thank you for the insight. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was a cracked intake hose. New hose fitted, cost around 100€. Running much better now!
