Skoda Octavia Hybrid High Voltage System Error

I'm at my wit's end! My 2020 Skoda Octavia hybrid has thrown a proper wobbler. I keep getting a 'High-voltage system error' message popping up. The error is stored in the error memory, and the engine just shuts off sometimes. Plus, I've noticed a significant reduction in engine power. The handbook vaguely mentions an electrical fault and suggests the battery might be heavily discharged or defective. I've seen a battery warning light a few times too. Any ideas before I end up selling a kidney to pay for repairs?

A high-voltage system error on a hybrid Octavia? That sounds worrying. Since you mentioned the battery warning, have you checked for any signs of a battery drain? Maybe something is constantly drawing power even when the car is off. It could also be an inverter issue, but I'm no expert.

Battery drain, huh? How would I even go about checking for something like that? I mean, I can check the battery terminals for corrosion, but beyond that, I'm kind of lost. And an inverter issue... what exactly does that even entail? Could that trigger the engine shutting off and reduced power?

Well, checking for a battery drain without proper equipment is tricky. And yes, an inverter issue could definitely cause those symptoms – engine shut-off and reduced power. Honestly, with a high-voltage system error, it's best to get it checked by someone who knows what they're doing. It sounds like more than just a simple fix.

Just wanted to let you know. I took it to the workshop, and you were right! A heavily discharged battery was causing the high-voltage system malfunction. They replaced it, and after clearing the error memory, everything seems to be running smoothly again. The whole thing cost me about 290€. Thanks for the help!
