Skoda Octavia Hybrid Overvoltage Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Skoda Octavia Hybrid was experiencing overvoltage issues, leading to intermittent system failures and a weak battery. The suspected cause was a faulty battery or voltage regulator. It was advised to have the charging system and battery professionally tested to avoid further damage. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the battery was heavily discharged, causing the problems. Replacing the battery resolved the overvoltage errors and restored normal functionality.

That's interesting, thank you! I haven't specifically checked the voltage regulator. The error codes mostly point to overvoltage in various car ECU modules. I'm not sure how to properly test the voltage regulator though, and also I'm unsure how to identify the fault codes? I'm not very experienced with car electronics, so I don't want to mess anything up. Is there a safe way to check it without causing more damage?

Yeah, messing with car electronics without the right knowledge can definitely lead to more problems. If you're seeing a lot of overvoltage codes, and especially with a weak battery, it might be best to take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and have the right tools to test the charging system and battery. It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to high voltage systems.

Thank you so much for your insights and sharing your experience. It seems like you were right. I took it to a workshop, and after some diagnostics, they confirmed that the battery was indeed heavily discharged and causing all sorts of electrical mayhem. They replaced it, and the overvoltage errors are gone, and everything seems to be working fine now. The whole thing cost me about 290€, which isn't great, but at least it's fixed. I really appreciate your help!

Overvoltage issues can be a real headache, especially with modern car electronics. My old Peugeot had similar symptoms a while back random system failures, weak starts, the whole shebang. Turned out, for me, that it was a faulty voltage regulator causing the battery to overcharge intermittently. Maybe check the charging system? Also, have you had the battery tested to see if it's holding a charge properly? What kind of fault codes are you seeing exactly? Knowing the codes could point you in the right direction for diagnosis.
