Skoda Octavia NOx Catalyst Issue

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have a 2011 Skoda Octavia with a gasoline engine and about 118930 km on the clock. The check engine light keeps coming on, and the error code points to the NOx storage catalyst aging. I also noticed a slight exhaust leak, which I'm guessing could be related. Could this exhaust leak be messing with the NOx emissions and causing the catalyst to fail prematurely? Any advice would be appreciated.

That sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot. Check engine light and all. It turned out to be something related to the emissions system. Did you notice any changes in your fuel economy or engine performance?

Interesting. I haven't noticed any difference in fuel economy or performance. Was it the NOx catalyst in your case too?

I had the same issue with my Peugeot. It wasn't exactly the NOx catalyst itself, but a leak in the exhaust system before the catalyst was causing similar problems with NOx emissions. The leak was throwing off the readings and making the system think the NOx catalyst was failing. I would definitely take it to a workshop.

Just a heads up, the problem is solved. It was an exhaust leak, like you thought. The NOx catalyst was aging faster because of it. The fix cost 265€, but the check engine light is off, and hopefully my car is helping air quality now. Thanks for the help.
