Skoda Octavia Tire Pressure Sensor Issue

I'm having a terrible time with my 2005 Skoda Octavia diesel. The tire pressure seems to be too low, even after tire inflation. I keep getting an error message on the speedometer, which is incredibly distracting. I checked the error memory and it says there's a problem with the tire pressure sensor. Could it be that the sensor battery is empty after all these years? Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a common problem? What can I do?

Sounds like a familiar problem. I had something similar with my Octavia. Was the error message persistent, or did it come and go? Have you checked the air valve for any damage? A faulty valve can also cause low tire issues.

The error message is always on, and the low tire warning is displayed constantly. I haven't specifically checked the air valve, but the tires hold air just fine after tire inflation. Could it still be the valve even if I don't have a flat tire?

Yes, it's possible for the valve to be faulty even without a flat tire. However, given the error message and the age of your car, a dead sensor battery is the most likely culprit. Four new sensors including installation set me back around 300€. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to confirm. They can diagnose it properly and replace the sensor if needed.

I took my Octavia to the shop as you suggested. It was indeed the tire pressure sensor battery, like you suspected. I had all four replaced to be safe, and the error is gone. Cost me around 280€, but at least I have peace of mind now. Thanks again for your help!
