Skoda Octavia weak battery and flickering lights
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Skoda Octavia owner experienced a weak battery and flickering lights, suspecting a faulty battery sensor was causing incorrect battery health readings. A similar issue was noted by another individual, who suggested checking the battery voltage and considering the sensor as a potential cause. The battery sensor, typically located at the negative terminal, was confirmed faulty by a workshop, leading to its replacement and recalibration, resolving the issue.

Thanks, that's helpful. Where is the battery sensor located? Is it easy to test its functionality without specialized equipment?

The sensor is usually integrated into the negative terminal of the car battery. Testing it accurately requires a multimeter and knowledge of electrical systems. Considering the symptoms and the potential risk of damaging the electrical system, I suggest taking it to a qualified workshop for diagnosis.

The workshop confirmed the battery sensor was faulty after running diagnostics. Replacement and recalibration set me back 315€. Battery health seems normal now. Thanks for your insight.

I had a similar issue with my Skoda Octavia a while ago. The symptoms sound familiar. Have you checked the battery voltage when the engine is running? A faulty sensor can give incorrect readings, which affects the battery charge.
