Skoda Praktik AC and Temperature Sensor Issue

I'm experiencing issues with my 2009 Skoda Praktik diesel. The error memory stores a fault related to the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger. Symptoms include an error message appearing in the speedometer and the air conditioning system failing to activate. Could this be related to a sensor malfunction?

Whoa, sounds familiar! My Skoda Roomster, must be same platform or something, had similar AC weirdness last summer. Error codes galore, and the AC just wouldn't kick in. Did you check for any coolant leak around the heat exchanger? That's where mine was going. The temperature gauge was acting wonky too, fluctuating like crazy. Could be a sensor malfunction playing tricks on the system.

Interesting, when you mention the coolant leak around the heat exchanger, was it obvious or did it require close inspection? Also, did you experience any error messages on the speedometer or just the AC malfunction?

The leak was subtle, needed a close look. And yes, absolutely error messages on the display! It all pointed to the temperature sensor being the culprit, messing with the AC. Sounds like it might be the same deal for you. I ended up taking mine to a workshop because I suspected the air conditioning control unit was also defective and needed replacing. Might be worth getting it checked.

The workshop confirmed the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger was indeed faulty. Also, the air conditioning control unit was flagged as defective. Total cost 980€. Consider this case resolved.
