Skoda Praktik AC Problems

Alright, so my 2007 Skoda Praktik with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. The AC has completely stopped working. It's not even trying to cool, and I don't hear the usual AC noise when I turn it on. Fuses are okay. I'm suspecting individual valves in the AC system might be defective. Anyone experienced something like this? Did some AC maintenance recently, so that's probably not it. Blower motor seems fine. Is there a common failure point I should be investigating, like the pressure switch or some other component?

Sounds familiar. Had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. AC stopped blowing cold air. First thing I'd check is the AC relay and pressure switch. Could be a simple fix.

Thanks for the quick reply. Where exactly is the AC relay located? And how do I test the pressure switch? Is it like checking a fuse?

The relay location varies, check your manual. The pressure switch usually needs a multimeter to test for continuity. If those check out, could be a deeper issue. For me, it was the compressor. It's like when your home fridge stops working - could be a small leak or the whole thing needs replacing. Save yourself the headache and take it to a workshop before you start throwing parts at it.

Thanks for the input. It sounds like I'm facing a similar situation. I'll get it checked at a workshop and report back. They confirmed the valves were faulty. Quoted around 1000€ for the repair. Ouch.
