Skoda Praktik control module issue

I'm experiencing a rather annoying problem with my 2010 Skoda Praktik with a gasoline engine. I keep getting sporadic error messages, sometimes the 'Check Engine' light comes on, and sometimes it's other systems like audio or navigation that fail temporarily. It's driving me nuts! I used an engine diagnostics scan tool and it shows errors related to various control modules, suggesting a possible connection issue. Has anyone experienced something similar? My mechanic suspects a defective cable connection to the BUS system of a control module. Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. I am really pulling my hair out. I hope it doesn't end up costing me a fortune!

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Skoda Praktik owner experienced sporadic error messages and system failures, with diagnostics indicating issues related to control modules. The problem was suspected to be a defective cable connection to the BUS system of a control module. Another person with a similar issue suggested that moisture might exacerbate the problem and recommended checking the cable connections. The issue was resolved by replacing the faulty cable, confirming the initial suspicion.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Praktik a while back. Warning signal lights were going crazy, and the audio kept cutting out. Did you notice if it happened more when it was damp?

Interesting! Yes, I did notice it more often when it rained, or the car was damp. Was the cause in your case exactly the same – a defective cable? Also, how did you resolve the issue?

Yep, same symptoms. Moisture seemed to make it worse. I tried cleaning the contacts myself, but it was a temporary fix. Eventually, I took it to a workshop, and they diagnosed it as a faulty cable connecting to the main control module. They replaced it, and the problem disappeared. I'd suggest getting it checked properly, especially if the scan tool is pointing to a control module issue.

Thanks so much for the help. It turned out to be exactly as you described. The cable connection to the control unit was indeed defective. The workshop confirmed it with their scan tool and after replacing the faulty cable, everything is working fine again. The total cost was around 155€, which I think is reasonable. Really appreciate your input!
