Skoda Praktik Diesel Engine Trouble

My Skoda Praktik, build year 2007 with a diesel engine, has started exhibiting some worrying symptoms. My fuel efficiency has taken a nosedive, and starting the vehicle has become a real chore. I suspect it's related to the engine throttle valve, possibly a defective accelerator pedal module. Has anyone experienced similar issues with air intake and fuel efficiency? Any pointers before I start tearing things apart?

That sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Skoda Praktik. The symptoms were almost identical: poor starting and my fuel consumption went through the roof. I'd check the throttle position sensor too.

When you say 'throttle position sensor', are you referring to the sensor integrated into the accelerator pedal module, or is there another control valve sensor I should be looking at within the air intake system?

In my case, it was definitely linked to the accelerator pedal. A faulty module can mess with the throttle valve's operation. If you're not comfortable digging into the electronics, I'd advise a trip to the workshop. They can diagnose the throttle position accurately and confirm if that control valve sensor is the culprit.

It was the accelerator pedal module causing the throttle valve issue. Replacement cost 205€. Fuel efficiency is back to normal and the engine starts much better now. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.
