Indeed, the plug connection was my first suspect, but everything seems correctly connected. Was the defective part the preheating control unit itself? Was there any smoke coming from the exhaust as well?

Yes, the defective part was exactly that: the preheating control unit. And yes, I also experienced smoke when accelerating, which disappeared after the replacement. Given your mileage, it is likely the same issue. I'd advise taking it to a trusted workshop to properly diagnose and replace the component.

Thank you for the confirmation. It seems I was on the right track with the electrical fault diagnosis. I took it to a workshop, and it turned out to be a defective preheating control unit, as suspected. The repair cost was 95€. Everything is working correctly now.

I recall encountering a similar issue with my Skoda Praktik. The preheating lamp remained illuminated, and the engine light appeared shortly after. In my case, it was indeed related to the car electronics. Did you check the plug connection?
