Skoda Praktik engine issue

I'm having a bit of a headache with my 2007 Skoda Praktik, gasoline engine. It's got about 101074 km on the clock. Recently, the check engine light popped up, and the engine started stalling at idle sometimes. Also, I've noticed a significant drop in engine power. After doing some research, I suspect it might be related to the rail pressure sensor. I think the sensor signal is faulty. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Whoa, sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my old Renault Megane, though it was the diesel engine version. The fuel pressure would fluctuate like crazy, and the car would sometimes just cut out. Check engine light was always on. Have you tried reading the error codes? It could give you a more precise idea of what's going on.

Yeah, I did read the codes, and it points to a faulty rail pressure sensor signal. That's why I'm leaning towards replacing the sensor. But I'm curious, when you had the issue with your Megane, did the error code specifically mention the fuel pressure sensor, or was it something more generic?

Okay, since you got a specific code, it definitely points to the sensor. In my case, the error code was related to fuel injection, but after some digging, it turned out to be the rail pressure sensor as well. Replacing it solved all the problems. If you're not super comfortable with car repairs, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. Messing with the fuel system can be tricky.

Took the Praktik to a trusted mechanic, and they confirmed it was the rail pressure sensor. They replaced it, and the total cost was around 240€. Now the engine runs smoothly, no more check engine light, and the stalling issue is gone. Thanks again for sharing your experience!
