Skoda Praktik oil pressure issue

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, the noise is definitely the worrying part. I haven't seen any oil leakage, but I haven't really looked closely. Where exactly is the oil pressure sensor located? And if it's the oil pump, is that a big job to replace?

Okay, so the oil pressure sensor is usually near the oil filter. But honestly, with those symptoms, especially the noise, I'd bet serious money on oil pump failure. It's like your engine is trying to tell you it's thirsty but can’t get a drink! Replacing the oil pump is a fairly involved job. You could try checking the oil filter and doing an oil change first, but if the pump is shot, it won't make much difference. Best to get it to a workshop and have them confirm the diagnosis. Don't drive it much in the meantime, you risk doing some real damage.

You're a lifesaver! The shop confirmed it was the oil pump. They replaced it, changed the oil, and the noise is gone. Cost me 755€, ouch! But at least it's fixed. Thanks again for the help!

Woah, sounds nasty! I had something similar happen with my Praktik. Oil pressure warning light flashing, engine sounding like a bag of bolts. First thing I'd check is the oil pressure sensor itself – sometimes they go wonky. But if you're hearing loud mechanical noises, it does point towards something more serious, like the oil pump. Have you noticed any oil leakage anywhere?
