Skoda Praktik Overheating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Skoda Praktik with a diesel engine was experiencing overheating issues, with the radiator fan suspected to be defective and the check engine light illuminated. The initial suspicion was a faulty speed sensor. After taking the car to a workshop, the problem was confirmed to be a defective speed sensor, which was then repaired, resolving the overheating issue.

Did you have similar fan noise before the car overheating became noticeable? And what exactly was the fix that solved your cooling system issue?

No fan noise that I recall. The symptoms were identical though; car overheating and the check engine light. I'd recommend a workshop to diagnose it properly. It could save you time and money in the long run.

Thanks for the confirmation. I took it to a local workshop, and it turned out to be a defective speed sensor. It's sorted now, with a bill of 250€. Glad it's resolved. The cooling system is working perfectly now.

Sounds familiar. I had similar car overheating issues with my Skoda Praktik. Check engine light was on too. Have you checked the thermal switch? It might be the culprit.
