Skoda Praktik rough running issue

I'm having some trouble with my 2009 Skoda Praktik with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and the engine is running really rough, especially at idle. Sometimes it even stalls and jerks a bit when I accelerate. I scanned the error codes, and it points to the fuel pressure sensor. Could it be the sensor itself, or is there something else I should check first? The car has 77810 km on the clock. I've noticed a slight drop in fuel economy and sometimes I feel an engine misfire.

The symptoms you describe do point towards a fuel delivery issue. The fuel pressure sensor is a prime suspect. Before replacing it, have you checked the wiring and connections to the sensor itself? A loose or corroded connector can cause similar problems. It's like a loose wire on a lamp – it might flicker or not work at all even if the bulb (sensor) is fine.

I haven't checked the wiring yet, as I'm not very experienced with car electrics. Is there a way to check the connection without special tools? Where is the fuel pressure sensor located on my engine?

Given your lack of experience with electrics, and the fact that the error code points directly to the sensor, the best course of action is probably to take it to a workshop. A defective cable or plug connection is a likely cause, and a professional can diagnose it properly and replace the faulty parts. It's better than risking damage to other components. Think of it like a doctor diagnosing an illness – they have the tools and expertise to identify the root cause.

It was the fuel pressure sensor. The workshop found a faulty connection, just as suspected. They replaced the plug and sensor for 95€. The engine runs smoothly, and the check engine light is off. Thanks for your help!
