Skoda Praktik Transmission Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Skoda Praktik with a diesel engine is experiencing transmission issues, including warning lights, emergency mode activation, unclean shifting, and grinding noises. A faulty transmission oil temperature sensor is identified as a potential cause, possibly exacerbated by low transmission oil levels. The solution involves replacing the sensor and topping off the transmission oil, which resolves the issues.

Interesting. You mentioned your Praktik had similar symptoms. Was it also the temperature sensor? What exactly did they do to fix it?

Yes, it was the transmission oil temperature sensor on mine as well. I assume the low oil level caused it to fail. Error codes were similar, and the symptoms were almost identical. They replaced the sensor and topped off the transmission oil. If you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, perhaps a visit to a workshop would be prudent? A proper diagnosis could save you headaches down the road.

Took it to the workshop. It was a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor, like you thought. Gearbox oil level was a bit low. The transmission repair cost 365€. Thanks for the help.

I have a Skoda Praktik as well, though I'm uncertain of the exact year. I had similar symptoms including the MIL illuminating, gearbox slipping and being in emergency mode. Have you checked the transmission oil level? It could be related to the overheating problems you're experiencing. Could a low oil level be affecting the temperature sensor?
