Skoda Rapid AC not working

My 2000 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine's AC suddenly stopped working. It's done 198639 km. The air conditioning system doesn't switch on at all. I've checked the basics like fuses, but I suspect it might be individual valves in the AC system that have failed. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

The AC in a 2000 Skoda Rapid stopped working, and initial checks like fuses were inconclusive. The problem was suspected to be due to faulty individual valves in the AC system. Suggestions included checking the AC relay, pressure switch, and blower motor. Ultimately, professional diagnostics confirmed faulty valves, which were replaced to restore functionality.

Air conditioning issues can be tricky. Based on your description, it does sound like a potential valve problem, but I would not rule out other causes. I experienced a similar issue with my older BMW. The AC system would not engage at all. Before assuming the worst, have you checked the AC relay and the pressure switch? Also, make sure your blower motor is functioning correctly. These are often overlooked during AC maintenance.

I appreciate the quick response. Where exactly is the AC relay located, and how can I test the pressure switch? I have a multimeter, but I'm not sure what values to look for.

Regarding the AC relay, its location varies, but it's often found in the fuse box, either under the hood or inside the cabin. Consult your owner's manual for the exact location. As for testing the pressure switch, you'll need to identify the wires leading to it. With the AC system off, use a multimeter to check for continuity. If there's no continuity, the switch might be faulty. However, without proper AC diagnostics tools, it's difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. Considering the age of your vehicle, a professional diagnosis is probably the best course of action.

Thanks for your help. I took it to a shop and you were right. They did some AC diagnostics and found faulty valves. Cost me around 1000€ to replace them, but at least it's working again.
