Skoda Rapid Battery Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine was experiencing a heavily discharged battery, weak starting, flickering lights, and error messages on the speedometer. The suspected cause was a defective battery sensor, which can lead to incorrect battery readings and improper charging. After replacing the faulty sensor at a workshop, the issues were resolved, resulting in stable lights and reliable engine starts.

It does! It's a weak start, like the battery is almost dead. And the lights flicker sometimes, especially at idle. What was the problem with your BMW's electrical system? Was it also a battery failure?

Yep, classic symptoms of a faulty battery sensor. The car's computer gets incorrect readings, leading to improper battery charging and all sorts of electrical gremlins. I'd say your mechanic is on the right track. Probably best to get it sorted at a workshop; messing with the electrical system can be risky if you don't know what you're doing.

Took your advice and brought my Rapid to the workshop. Turns out, you were spot on! The battery sensor was indeed defective. They replaced it, and the error messages are gone, lights are stable, and it starts like a charm now. Cost me 315€, but peace of mind is worth it. Thanks a bunch for your help!

Sounds like a pain! I had a similar issue with my old BMW a while back. Discharged battery, weird electrical system glitches... Does it struggle to turn over when you try to start it?
