Skoda Rapid Blower Motor Issue

I'm having a nightmare with the fresh air blower on my 2017 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine. It's done 66519 km. Basically, the blower motor isn't working at all. No air flow whatsoever, regardless of the fan speed setting. I've scanned for error codes, and there's definitely something stored related to the blower. My initial thought is that the blower motor itself is defective. Before I start ripping the dashboard apart, has anyone else experienced this? Any tips or common failure points I should be aware of in the HVAC system?

Summary of the thread

The 2017 Skoda Rapid's blower motor issue involves a complete lack of airflow, regardless of fan speed settings, with an error code indicating a problem in the HVAC system. The initial suspicion is a defective blower motor, but the fan speed controller, or resistor pack, is also a potential failure point. Replacing the blower motor and possibly the resistor resolved the issue, restoring proper air circulation.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar problem with my Rapid. The blower motor stopped working, and I also had an error code stored. Did you check the fan speed controller? It regulates the voltage to the blower motor, controlling the air flow. If that fails, it can prevent the blower from working. In my case, the defective blower motor was the reason for the error. What diagnostic steps have you taken so far?

Thanks for the reply! When you say 'fan speed controller', are you referring to the resistor pack that controls the voltage to the blower? And did replacing the blower motor sort it out completely for you, or was there more to it?

Yes, by 'fan speed controller', I mean the resistor pack. In my situation, the defective blower was the problem. But the error code pointed to that area of the system. Given that you have an error stored, and you suspect the motor, it's a strong possibility that replacing it will resolve the issue. I would probably recommend taking it to a workshop to confirm that diagnosis and estimate the repair costs before proceeding.

Cheers for the help! Turns out, it was indeed the blower motor, as suspected. 365€ later, the HVAC system is back up and running. The invoice mentioned something about replacing a resistor as well, possibly the fan speed controller. Either way, good air circulation once again!
