Skoda Rapid Brake Light Problem

Bulbs are fine. The error pops up straight away, even without touching the brake pedal. So, if it's not the bulbs, and the error's there all the time, is it definitely the switch? Or could it be something else electrical causing the issue?

Given that the error presents without depressing the brake pedal, and you've confirmed the bulbs are functional, a faulty brake light switch is the most probable cause. While less likely, a wiring issue within the brake system's electrical circuit could also be responsible. I would still recommend a diagnostic check at a certified workshop before proceeding with the switch replacement. This will help pinpoint the fault with greater certainty and avoid unnecessary parts replacement.

Thanks! Turns out, I'm an idiot. My shoe was slightly pressing on the brake pedal. Removed it, and the light's gone! Error's cleared too. Free fix!

Interesting. A faulty brake light switch on a Skoda Rapid with a diesel engine isn't uncommon. The error message and brake light failure point towards a problem in the brake system's electrical circuit. Before you consider a switch replacement, could you confirm a few things? Have you checked the brake lights themselves to rule out blown bulbs? Also, does the error appear immediately upon starting the car, or only when you depress the brake pedal?
