Skoda Rapid car battery problem
Summary of the thread
The issue with the 2001 Skoda Rapid involved a weak battery and flickering lights, suspected to be caused by a faulty battery sensor. Erratic readings from the sensor were likely leading to incorrect data being sent to the car's computer, affecting the charging system. The suggested solution was to check the battery sensor readings using diagnostics tools. Ultimately, replacing the battery sensor resolved the problem.

That's interesting. You mentioned diagnostics. Could you elaborate on what values I should be looking for when I check the battery sensor?

Basically, I had the same symptoms. Flickering lights, weak starts, everything pointed to low voltage. The diagnostics showed erratic readings from the battery sensor. It wasn't providing accurate data to the car's computer, causing the charging system to misbehave. To be safe, I would advise going to a workshop.

It was indeed the battery sensor. Replacing it resolved the car battery issues. Total cost was 315€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you've got a similar issue to what I experienced with my old Renault Scenic. The lights would flicker, and sometimes it struggled to start. Have you done any car battery testing to confirm low voltage? Do you have access to vehicle diagnostics tools to check the battery sensor readings?
