Skoda Rapid cruise control problem

I'm officially pulling my hair out. My 2006 Skoda Rapid with a diesel engine has a cruise control problem. The cruise control just stopped working, and I'm getting an error message in the speedometer. A friend used an OBD2 code reader, and it showed an error stored in the error memory related to the cruise control. My friend thinks it's probably a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced this kind of non-functional cruise control malfunction

Summary of the thread

A 2006 Skoda Rapid with a diesel engine experienced a cruise control malfunction, displaying an error message on the speedometer. The issue was diagnosed using an OBD2 code reader, indicating a potential electrical problem, likely a defective cable or plug connection. The suggested solution was to inspect the steering wheel controls and throttle body for any damage or responsiveness issues. Ultimately, the problem was resolved at a workshop, confirming a defective cable connection as the cause.

Cruise control malfunction on a Skoda Rapid isn't uncommon. The error message and non-functional cruise control definitely point to an electrical issue. Have you checked the steering wheel controls for any obvious damage? Also, does the throttle body seem responsive?

Yeah, sounds like your friend's diagnosis is probably right. A faulty connection is the most likely culprit. Given the error code and symptoms, it's almost certainly an electrical issue in the cruise control system, possibly near the steering wheel or even the throttle body connection. Honestly, without proper tools, it's tricky to diagnose further. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop; they can pinpoint the exact location of the defective connection.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did a quick visual check of the steering wheel controls, and everything looks fine. But honestly, I wouldn't know what obvious damage would even look like. And how do I check if the throttle body is responsive? I'm not really a car guy, you know?

Just to let you know, you were spot on. The Skoda Rapid went to the workshop, and it was a defective cable connection like you said. They fixed it for 95€. Cruise control is working again. Thanks for your help.
