Skoda Rapid Diesel Electrical Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Skoda Rapid diesel is experiencing electrical issues, including poor starting, system failures, weak lights, and a weak battery, with an error indicating undervoltage. Possible causes include a defective battery or issues with the charging system, particularly the alternator. Testing the alternator for inconsistent output is suggested, but the problem was resolved by replacing a heavily discharged battery.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by examining the alternator? Did you have it tested specifically?

Yes, I had the alternator specifically tested. The output was inconsistent, leading to a low voltage situation and intermittent power supply. Given your symptoms, it would be prudent to have your vehicle evaluated by a qualified workshop to confirm the cause.

Thank you for the advice. It turned out to be a heavily discharged battery. I had it replaced, and the total repair cost was 290€. Everything is working as expected now.

I experienced a similar electrical problem with my Skoda Rapid. Weak starts and flickering lights are indicative of an undervoltage issue. I would advise examining the charging system thoroughly, especially the alternator.
