Skoda Rapid Diesel Engine Performance Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Skoda Rapid with a diesel engine experienced a significant drop in performance, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a loud hissing sound. The issue was suspected to be related to a defective switch intake manifold control. After consulting with others who had similar problems, it was confirmed that the intake manifold flap control was the cause. Replacing this component resolved the performance issues.

When you say airflow control, do you mean the intake system? How did you diagnose the manifold flap issue?

Yes, intake system, the manifold flap is part of that. I didn't diagnose it myself; I took it to a workshop. They ran some tests and confirmed it was the flap. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, best to get it checked properly.

Fixed it. It was the intake manifold flap control, exactly as suggested. Cost 465€ to replace. Runs great now. Thanks.

I had a similar problem with my Rapid. Reduced engine performance and jerking sounds familiar. Check your airflow control and the manifold flap. Could be a simple fix.
