Skoda Rapid Engine Stalling Troubles

I'm having trouble with my 2003 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and the engine sometimes stalls at idle. It also feels like I'm not getting full power when I accelerate. I scanned the codes, and it's showing a fault with the rail pressure sensor signal. I'm thinking the pressure sensor is defective. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I'm dreading a big repair bill.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Skoda a while back: check engine light, rough idle, the whole deal. If the sensor signal is faulty, it might be the fuel rail pressure sensor itself, or even a wiring problem. Have you checked the sensor's connection? Also, what's the fuel pressure reading when the engine stalls? That might give you a clue.

Thanks for the quick reply. Wiring seems okay at a glance, but I haven't checked the fuel pressure reading while it's stalling. Where do I tap in to get a reading from the fuel rail?

Yeah, sounds like the sensor to me. I wouldn't mess with the fuel rail myself unless you really know what you're doing. Fuel pressure is no joke. Seriously, I recommend taking it to a workshop and getting it sorted. It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to fuel pressure issues.

Took it to the shop, and you were right. The rail pressure sensor was bad. I had a new sensor installed for 240€, and the Rapid is running great now. Thanks a lot for the advice!
