Skoda Rapid hands free microphone problem

I am experiencing issues with the hands-free microphone in my 2016 Skoda Rapid diesel. Telephony is no longer possible, and an error is stored in the error memory. The ambient noise cancelling seems to be very high. Could this be a software issue? I suspect a defective infotainment system.

That does sound like a Bluetooth issue possibly linked to your infotainment system. Have you checked the volume control while in a call? Sometimes the microphone volume gets set very low accidentally. Also, does voice recognition work?

I have checked the volume control during a call, but it did not resolve the issue. Voice recognition is also non-functional. Do you think it is still a software issue?

If the volume control and voice recognition are also affected, it is probably not a simple software glitch. It's more likely to be a hardware fault within the infotainment system itself. A workshop visit is advisable to confirm if a microphone repair is feasible or if the unit needs replacement.

I had it checked, and as suspected, the hands-free unit within the infotainment system was indeed faulty. Unfortunately, a microphone repair wasn't possible, and the entire unit had to be replaced. The total cost amounted to 815€.
