Skoda Rapid heavy steering and vibration issue

I have a 2008 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine and 156901 km on the clock. Recently, the steering has become heavier, and the steering wheel vibrates, especially at lower speeds. It feels like the power steering is failing intermittently. Could this be related to a defective angle sensor?

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Skoda Rapid owner reported heavy steering and steering wheel vibration, particularly at lower speeds, suspecting a power steering issue. A similar experience was shared, suggesting the problem might be linked to a defective steering angle sensor. The solution involved recoding the faulty sensor and performing a wheel alignment, which resolved the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my Rapid. The steering wheel would vibrate, and it felt like the power steering was cutting in and out. Have you checked the automotive sensors, specifically the steering angle sensor?

Thanks for the quick reply. What did you do to fix it? Was it a sensor replacement, or something else? Did you experience any alignment problems?

In my case, it turned out to be a faulty angle sensor. It probably needs to be recoded, but I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly and perform a wheel alignment afterwards.

The workshop confirmed faulty angle sensor coding. They recoded it and did a wheel alignment. Total cost was 195€. Thanks for the advice.
