Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the mass air flow sensor or oxygen sensor specifically. Where exactly is the mass air flow sensor located, and is there a simple way to test it before considering replacement? Also, could a bad oxygen sensor really cause such a noticeable performance drop?

A faulty mass air flow sensor can definitely mess with the fuel mixture, and yes, a failing oxygen sensor can impact performance that much. Considering the symptoms and mileage, a defective fuel injector is a strong possibility like you mentioned. Given the potential complexity of diagnosing it yourself, might be best to get it checked out by a professional to confirm.

Took it to a trusted mechanic and they confirmed it was indeed the fuel injectors. All four were replaced, and the air-fuel ratio is now back within normal parameters. Total cost was 515€, but the car runs like new again. Thanks for your input!

Reduced engine power and the check engine light are classic symptoms of a lean condition. Have you checked your mass air flow sensor? A faulty sensor can cause the engine to miscalculate the air-fuel ratio. Also, when was the last time you replaced your oxygen sensor?
