Skoda Rapid Lean Running Condition

I'm experiencing some issues with my 2015 Skoda Rapid gasoline engine. It has 236553 km on the clock. The engine seems to be running too lean, resulting in reduced power, a persistent check engine light, rough running, and noticeable jerking when accelerating. From what I've read, a likely culprit could be a defective injection valve or injector. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Reduced engine power and the check engine light are classic symptoms of a lean condition. Have you checked your mass air flow sensor? A faulty sensor can cause the engine to miscalculate the air-fuel ratio. Also, when was the last time you replaced your oxygen sensor?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the mass air flow sensor or oxygen sensor specifically. Where exactly is the mass air flow sensor located, and is there a simple way to test it before considering replacement? Also, could a bad oxygen sensor really cause such a noticeable performance drop?

A faulty mass air flow sensor can definitely mess with the fuel mixture, and yes, a failing oxygen sensor can impact performance that much. Considering the symptoms and mileage, a defective fuel injector is a strong possibility like you mentioned. Given the potential complexity of diagnosing it yourself, might be best to get it checked out by a professional to confirm.

Took it to a trusted mechanic and they confirmed it was indeed the fuel injectors. All four were replaced, and the air-fuel ratio is now back within normal parameters. Total cost was 515€, but the car runs like new again. Thanks for your input!
