Skoda Rapid Rain Light Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Skoda Rapid is experiencing a rain-light sensor fault, leading to issues such as non-functional automatic wiping, unexpected headlight activation, and speedometer dimming problems. The problem is traced to the rain sensor, specifically bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield. The suggested solution is to visit a workshop for diagnosis and repair, which successfully resolved the issue.

That's interesting. Were your headlights switching on even during the day? And did you also have issues with the speedometer dimming or the automatic wiping mode not working in the rain?

Yes, exactly! The headlights were on all the time. I'm no expert, but it does sound like the rain sensor to me. I would recommend taking it to a workshop. They should be able to diagnose the problem properly.

I appreciate your input; it was quite helpful. I visited a workshop, and they confirmed the rain sensor was the culprit. The bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield caused the sensor fault. The repair cost was 62€.

I also own a Skoda Rapid, and I think I had a similar problem with the rain detection once. Did you notice if your headlights were acting strange too? Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I'm curious if the sensor calibration could be off.
