Skoda Rapid rough engine running issue
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine is experiencing rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The issue is suspected to be related to a defective ignition coil. A similar problem was resolved by checking spark plug connections for corrosion, which led to coil failure. After confirming a faulty ignition coil due to a bad cable connection, the repair was completed, and the engine now runs smoothly.

Could you please elaborate on how you diagnosed the spark plug connections? Were there any specific signs to look for?

Yes, the spark plug connections were indeed the culprit. The mechanic pointed out some corrosion. I recommend having it checked at a workshop to confirm the diagnosis.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion. I took the Skoda Rapid to a workshop, and they confirmed a defective ignition coil, most likely due to a faulty cable connection. The repair cost was 95€. Engine runs smoothly now.

I had a similar issue with my Skoda Rapid. The engine hesitation and stalling sound familiar. Have you checked the spark plug connections to the ignition system? That was the source of my coil failure.
