Skoda Rapid Transmission Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine is experiencing transmission issues, including an engine warning light, a transmission sensor fault code, emergency mode activation, slipping, rough shifting, and grinding noises. The suspected cause is a low transmission oil level. After consulting with a mechanic, the issue was resolved by topping up the oil and resetting the sensor, which restored smooth operation.

Interesting. When you say you had similar issues, was it the transmission sensor specifically triggering the warning light? And how did you figure out it was the oil level? Did you get a specific error code?

Yep, that transmission sensor was throwing codes like crazy. The error log pointed to the sensor but after some research and checking it myself, the oil level was way below the minimum. Definitely get it checked at a workshop, they will know what to do.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. I took it to my trusted mechanic, and you were spot on. Turns out the oil level was indeed low, causing the transmission sensor to throw a fault code. After a top-up and a sensor reset, it's running smoothly again. The whole thing set me back 365€, but it's a relief to have it sorted.

Sounds frustrating. I have a Skoda Rapid as well, though I can't remember what year it is right now. I had similar transmission issues a while back – the engine warning light was on, and shifting felt really rough. Did you check the transmission oil level? That was the culprit in my case.
