Skoda Rapid turn signal issue

I am experiencing an issue with the turn signal lamp on my 2011 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine. An error is stored in the error memory, accompanied by an error message displayed in the speedometer and a lighting fault. Based on preliminary assessments, the likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection to the component. Has anyone encountered similar issues and can offer guidance?

I understand your predicament. I encountered a similar situation with my Opel Insignia a few years prior. The error messages and lighting faults were quite disconcerting. Did you perform a thorough inspection of the wiring harness leading to the signal lamp assembly? Specifically, examine the connector for any signs of corrosion or damage. Furthermore, have you verified the integrity of the ground connection for that circuit?

Thank you for your response. Regarding the wiring harness inspection, I visually checked for obvious damage, but did not perform any electrical testing. Where exactly should I be looking for corrosion or damage within the connector? And how would I verify the integrity of the ground connection, considering I lack specialized diagnostic equipment?

The corrosion often manifests as a greenish or whitish deposit on the connector pins. A multimeter can be used to check the ground connection; however, given your lack of specialized equipment, it might be prudent to have a qualified technician perform a comprehensive diagnostic assessment. While I initially attempted to resolve the issue myself, it ultimately required specialized tools to pinpoint the exact location of the short circuit. It is best to take the car to the workshop.

Acknowledged and thank you for your insights. I took it to the workshop, and as suspected, it was a defective plug connection. The entire repair, including lamp replacement, amounted to 95€. Everything is functioning normally now.
