Skoda Roomster Alarm System Issue

I am experiencing some difficulties with my Skoda Roomster from 2007, diesel engine, mileage 171341 km. The alarm system is not working, and fault detection shows a siren communication fault stored in the error memory. The most likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection, according to the error description. I am concerned about a potential security breach due to this malfunction. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Alarm reset attempts were unsuccessful. The estimated repair cost is around 95€. Any suggestions on how to proceed with further fault detection of this signal problem?

Summary of the thread

The Skoda Roomster's alarm system was malfunctioning due to a siren communication fault, likely caused by a defective cable or plug connection. Attempts to reset the alarm were unsuccessful, raising concerns about security. Suggestions included checking fuses and gently adjusting the alarm system module connector. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed the issue was a faulty connector, which was cleaned and resolved for the estimated repair cost.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. The alarm would randomly go off, or just not work at all. Have you tried checking the fuses? It might be something simple like that. Also, give the alarm system module connector a wiggle. Where is the alarm module in the Roomster?

Thanks for your quick reply! I did check the fuses, they seem fine. I haven't located the alarm module yet. Do you, by any chance, know where it is located or where I can find information about it? And when you say 'alarm system module connector a wiggle', what exactly do you mean?

Yeah, sorry, by wiggle I meant just gently move the connector to see if it makes a difference, but be careful not to force anything! I didn't have any luck with it in my case, and honestly, messing with car electrics can be a pain. Given the error message and the estimated cost, I would probably just take it to a reliable workshop. It's probably just a corroded or loose connection as you suggested, but let them sort it out properly.

Just wanted to close the loop on this. Took it to the workshop and they confirmed the siren communication fault. They traced it to a dodgy connector, cleaned it up, and all is well. Cost me the expected 95€. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated!
