Skoda Roomster Bypass Valve and Overheating Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Skoda Roomster experienced a bypass valve malfunction and overheating, leading to power reduction and engine stalling. The initial suspicion was that the bypass valve error was secondary. Investigation revealed that the real issue was a defective sensor in the exhaust system, causing the overheating. Replacing the sensor resolved the problem, and the vehicle returned to normal operation.

You suggested inspecting the air intake system. Can you specify which areas I should concentrate on? I've glanced at the main hoses, but maybe I'm overlooking something minor.

In my case, the issue was a small crack in a vacuum hose connected to the air intake manifold. It wasn't easy to spot. Considering the overheating, it's wise to get the exhaust system and its sensors professionally checked. The bypass valve error might be a symptom, not the primary cause. A visit to a mechanic is probably the best course of action.

The bypass valve error was misleading. The real culprit was a defective sensor in the exhaust system, which caused the overheating. I had it replaced, cleared the error codes, and the Roomster runs like new. Luckily, there was no cost because the sensor was still covered by the warranty. Thanks for the guidance!

I had a similar issue with my Volvo V70, although it's a different make. The error log also pointed to a bypass valve problem. Have you checked the air intake system completely for leaks or obstructions? Limited airflow can cause false alarms related to the vacuum system, which affects how the bypass valve works.
